Welcome to the Seattle University Department of Performing Arts and Arts Leadership

Here you may browse the programs we offer, see images of the varied creative work generated by our department, find information of upcoming events, link to the Arts Leadership program, and be introduced to some of the students and faculty that are part of this vibrant area of the ARTS at Seattle U.

This department comprises of the Theatre and Music programs, both offering Bachelor of Arts/Music degrees and the Arts Leadership program, currently offering a Masters degree and Bachelor of Arts Interdisciplinary Arts with an Emphasis in Arts Leadership.

Students majoring in the Performing Arts areas experience the highest level of creativity working alongside faculty who are all professional artists working in their fields.  Students perform in many settings: our Lee Theatre is one of the most flexible and up-to-date theatre venues in Seattle, and music students perform in a variety of venues on and off campus.  Many renowned national and international guest artists teach and perform at Seattle U, supported by our Pigott Family Endowment for the Arts.  Our students are consistently awarded internships across the flourishing Seattle Arts scene. The department provides students with opportunities to tour underserved areas; performing, creating designs, and bringing vibrant SU arts programming into the community.

The Arts Leadership program offers a Masters of Fine Arts degree that provides future arts leaders with an opportunity to merge the latest management practices of nonprofit organizations with the specific skills necessary to lead complex arts organizations. A new Interdisciplinary Arts BA degree with an Emphasis in Arts Leadership allows students an entry into this field as part of their undergraduate education.

The Performing Arts and Arts Leadership faculty and staff are passionate about developing and fostering artistic growth so our students can be future leaders in arts.
