A compelling public art project by UrbanArt Concept, "The Spiral Project -- A Spiral of Hope" was an evocative sculpture event in spring 2012. We began three weeks of construction Friday, April 27, in Lake Union Park; the sculpture was completed by mid-May and open to the public through Sunday, June 17. Nearly 500 community members worked on this art project about the meaning of home, from the 40+ who gathered the branches in Dr. Jose Rizal Park in March and April, to the 200 who helped build the sculpture, to the hundreds more who contributed pieces to it. The sculpture was 340 feet long and 50 feet wide and spirals up to 22 feet high, and was made of 1,500 fallen tree branches.
