Biography

This year, Gretchen Bennett presented her third solo show with Howard House, “Community World Theatre”. In 2008 and 2009 she was awarded residencies with The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, Reykjavik, Iceland. In 2009 she was awarded an Artist Trust GAP Grant. She is currently showing a video work in the Seattle Art Museum and her work will be in the exhibition “Kurt”, at the Seattle Art Museum in 2010, curated by Michael Darling. She has published pieces in issues 1 and 6 of “La Norda Specialo”, a 'zine for artists' writings. She has been awarded a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Swing Space 4-month residency for 2010. She has been a guest lecturer at Seattle University, Rutgers University MGSA and Cornish College of the Arts. Bennett received her MFA at Rutgers University MGSA in 2001.
