Join artist Sean M. Johnson for the unveiling of his ambitious new installation, Displace. Johnson has frequently used furniture in his sculptural work to speak to notions of home, family, and identity. Balanced or suspended in seemingly impossible ways, chairs and sofas take on an anthropomorphic quality in Johnson’s work, conveying a potent psychological sense of precariousness or tension. The artist has previously brought these individual “personalities” into conversation within gallery exhibitions, but this is the first time he has convened the contents of an entire room in a single, site-specific work.
