  • Two Alumni Inducted into National Nonprofit Honor Society

    Laura Haroldson and Jessie Irwin-Hooper (right), Master of Nonprofit Leadership class of 2012, were inducted into the Nu Lambda Mu Honor Society. Established by the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council, the honor society recognizes outstanding students dedicated to the study of nonprofit management, philanthropy, and social entrepreneurship/enterprise.

    Haroldson is Senior Manager of Web & Interactive Communications at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She has worked at Fred Hutchinson for seven years. She is also a founding board member with the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance (HNCA), Washington Chapter. “Mary Gerardo, from my cohort, is heading up the effort to start the HNCA chapter. I am honored to serve and learn about starting up a nonprofit chapter."

    Irwin-Hooper is the Communications and Marketing Manager at TreehouseTreehouse serves children in foster care through activities that include summer camp, tutoring, and college and career planning. Irwin-Hooper is helping the organization fulfill a the goal that within the next five years: students in foster care in King County will graduate at the same rate as their peers.

    The Master of Nonprofit Leadership is one of 7 advanced degrees offered by the College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college in Seattle University.
