  • Fontana Receives Journalism Scholarship

    April 19, 2012

Journalism major Colleen Fontana received the Bruce & Betty Helberg Internship Scholarship for 2012 from the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association (WNPA) Foundation. She will spend the summer at the Toppenish Independent Review.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to experience the full range of general interest news covered by a regional newspaper,” the sophomore said.

WNPA members include community newspapers in urban, suburban, and rural areas in Washington. The Independent Review focuses on activities and events in the Central Yakima Valley. Fontana, who grew up in Yakima, writes for the SU Spectator.

The College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college in Seattle University, offers 33 undergraduate and 7 advanced degrees. The Communication Department offers degrees in Communications Studies, Journalism, and Strategic Communications.
