Theatre Program Welcomes Shawn Johnson

Shawn Ketchum Johnson joins the Theatre program faculty as an assistant professor, effective September 1, 2014. Johnson, who received his MFA from Northwestern University, has worked primarily in the Midwest, finding the deepest connection to socially-engaged ensembles such as Combined Efforts, a special-needs-inclusive theater company, and the community-based ethnographic devising company Working Group Theatre.

Recent credits include Chicago productions of Pride and Prejudice and Machinal, as well as the premieres of How to End Poverty in 90 Minutes, The Broken Chord, and a new adaptation of Moby-Dick. Among his upcoming projects is The Riot Ballet, a multi-year, multi-company, international collaboration on protest.

The College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college in Seattle University, offers 41 undergraduate major degrees, 36 minors, and 6 master's degrees, including an MFA in Arts Leadership. The Fine Arts Department offers degrees in music, interdisciplinary arts, visual art and art history, and theatre.
