Neilan Chaturvedi joins the faculty in the Political Science Department as an assistant professor, effective September 1, 2013. He focuses his research and scholarship on the American political process, race and ethnic politics, and political behavior and public opinion.
Chaturvedi, who received his PhD from the University of California, Irvine, received a 2013-14 Congressional Research Award for his project “Surviving the Ideological Center: The Influence of Moderates on Lawmaking in the Senate.” His recent publications and presentations focus on expanding women’s rights in the Muslim world, Asian American representation in Congress, and generational differences in Mexican American attitudes towards same sex marriage.
The College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college in Seattle University, offers 42 undergraduate majors, 37 minors, and 7 master's degrees.
