Fourteen Seattle U students and alumni are semi-finalists for the 2018-19 Fulbright U.S. Student Program, the largest exchange program in the country that offers opportunities for recent graduates in more than 140 countries.

The nationally competitive Fulbright US Student Program offers fully funded research, study, and teaching opportunities to recent graduates and graduate students. The Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Study/Research Grant is the traditional award where a candidate crafts an in-depth research proposal for a specific country, sometimes partnered with a graduate program. The Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship places successful candidates in schools overseas to teach English alongside a local instructor and to provide a native English speaker presence in the classroom.

The National Screening Committee of the Institute of International Education recommended these Seattle U students and alumni for final consideration for a Fulbright award. The finalists, those awarded the grant, will be notified this spring beginning in late March.
