Michelle Lofton, MPA

Michelle Lofton was hired in the Summer of 2017 as an adjunct faculty member of IPS. Michelle is currently a Ph.D. in Public Administration Candidate at Syracuse University with fields of specialization in public budgeting and finance as well as social policy. Her dissertation explores the management of local government financial uncertainties focusing on the impact of a new tax and expenditure limit, the use of short-term debt to reduce budgetary gaps, and the management of financial resources during a cash flow deficit.
Michelle's research interest primarily focus on local government financial management in the United States in regards to working capital management, fiscal constraints, and budgeting. With a passion for continual learning, Michelle serves as a researcher engaged in expanding her knowledge in public administration and persistently striving to educate others.
Michelle teaches PUBM 5110 Understanding Organizations and PUBM 5700 Economic Analysis.
