Brennan Murphy came to Seattle University after chairing the Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio, where he taught acting, voice and directing.  Prior to teaching, he had a career as a professional actor for over 20 years in New York City and at regional theaters around the United States. As a professional actor, Murphy has performed in over 100 professional productions, including stage productions, commercials, numerous workshops of new plays and several experimental venues. On Broadway he was a featured actor in Angela Lansbury's revival of "Mame," the critically acclaimed Hal Prince/NYC Opera production of "Candide," and "Take Me Along," the musical version of Eugene O'Neill's classic, "Ah, Wilderness!" In addition, he is a founding member of two New York City experimental theatre companies, Cucaracha Theatre and the Gertrude Stein Repertory Theatre. 

Previous to his professional acting career, Murphy was a professional dancer performing as a soloist with New York's Joffrey II Dancers and the New York City Opera Ballet. He has danced ballets choreographed by George Balanchine, Anthony Tudor and several other great 20th century choreographers.  

As an educator, he has taught acting, voice and movement at New York City's Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting, American Music and Dramatic Academy, California State University, Illinois State University, University of Illinois Champagne-Urbana, SUNY at Buffalo State College and at several of London's leading drama schools, including Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford College and Middlesex University. Murphy was also a guest lecturer at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, Western Australia. In addition, Murphy works privately with clients on presentational and voice skills. Brennan has worked with Kristin Linklater at the Linklater Voice Center in Orkney, Scotland for several years and is a Designated Linklater Voice Practitioner. Murphy is also a certified Fitzmaurice Voice Associate Teacher. He received a Master of Fine Arts in acting from the Yale School of Drama. Murphy also holds a Postgraduate Degree in Voice Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London where he received a distinction in teaching.
