Seattle University Alumni Day of Service brings together Seattle University alumni, friends and family from across the nation to participate in service projects. This year Day of Service is part of Seattle University's Homecoming celebration.
Central Seattle Service Sites:

AlleyCat Acres is an urban farming collective that works to convert unused space into community run farms with the mission of reconnecting people, place, and produce. Volunteers have helped with planting at the two sites as well as preparing grounds for spring. Children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by their parents.

Real Change is an award-winning weekly newspaper that provides immediate employment opportunity and takes action for economic, social, and racial justice. Volunteers will help with a deep clean of the vendor center. Ideal for volunteers ages 18 and up.

The Spring Event & Auction raises money for the PILF Summer Grant Program, which provides funding to Seattle University School of Law students who provide quality legal services to low-income and marginalized communities through unpaid summer jobs. Event preparation activities for volunteers will include creating compelling descriptions of items that will be available for silent auction, assembling table centerpieces and other event decorations, and reaching out to item donors to thank them for their contributions.

Washington Middle School is dedicated to creating a welcoming community of engaged, diverse and inspired learners. In the spirit of service learning, volunteers will be working alongside students with painting projects. Ideal site for volunteers with painting experience.
North Seattle Service Site:

PAWS is a champion for animals - rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife, sheltering and adopting homeless cats and dogs, and educating people to make a better world for animals and people. Volunteers may have the opportunity to participate in painting and small building projects, or landscaping tasks; such as weeding, grubbing invasive blackberries, and spreading mulch on trails. Volunteers must be 14+.
South Seattle Service Sites:
Seattle Tilth8:30 a.m.-12:30 pm5513 S. Cloverdale St.
The mission of Seattle Tilth is to inspire and educate people to safeguard our natural resources while building an equitable and sustainable local food system. Volunteers will contribute to organic farm production and ecological restoration of the wetlands. Sample farm tasks include preparing planting beds, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, and composting. Wetland work includes removing invasive weeds, planting wetland trees and shrubs and sheet mulching to protect them. Great family activity for all ages!
St. Edward Parish/ Catholic Community Services - Pregnancy & Parenting Support8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.4250 S. Mead St.Hosted by the African American Alumni Chapter
The Pregnancy & Parenting Support program provides education and supportive services to pregnant women and families with children 0-3 years of age. Volunteer duties will include sorting and organizing donations, redecorating and transforming of the office & children's play area, and hauling away unusable items.
West Seattle Service Site:
Westside Baby Corner - White Center10 a.m.-1 p.m.10002 14th Ave SWSeattle, WA 98146
Westside Baby Corner's mission is to serve the immediate and unmet physical needs of infants and children living in poverty in the greater Seattle-King County area. Since 1988, the Baby Corner has distributed millions in donated and purchased baby items through dozens of local community-based agencies and organizations. Volunteer activities will include sorting donated goods, and quality testing baby supplies. Youth are welcome, preferably with an adult.
Nature Consortium10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Volunteers will participate in fun, hands-on conservation work led by Nature Consortium staff in the West Duwamish Greenbelt, Seattle’s largest contiguous forest. Work parties involve removing invasive weeds and mulching. Working out in the elements requires the right apparel; long pants and closed-toed shoes are required. This is a great family project for all ages!
Queen Anne Service Site:

Habitat Stores are open to the public and sell new and gently used building materials, appliances and furniture at discount prices. Proceeds help fund Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building and restoring low income homes throughout King County. Volunteer opportunities at the Habitat Stores range from assisting our driver on donation pickups, merchandising donations on the sales floor, and general customer service and donor relations.

A public restoration project, assisting the growth and revitalization of the wetlands at Lake Sammamish State Park by planting trees and other plants along the shoreline.

Washington Youth Soccer is a nonprofit organization bringing soccer opportunities at all levels of the game to kids ages 5-19 across the state. Volunteers will be helping with various roles during the Founders Cup tournament, including set-up, goody bag stuffing, international walk out and national anthem coordination, souvenir program sales, field marshaling and activation of our 50th year anniversary. Volunteers of all ages are welcome!
