Preparing for Your First Quarter

  • Fall quarter

You will receive a notice directing you to the internet for registration information in late April or following payment of your confirmation deposit, whichever is later.

Once you have confirmed your enrollment (either by mailing a check to Admissions or by paying your $200 tuition deposit online via SU Online), you will have access to an online course designed to help you prepare for your first quarter at SU. The course includes a checklist of items such as registration and housing preferences and Summer in Seattle orientation registration. Additionally, it is used to provide immunization and health insurance information.

Summer in Seattle orientation for freshmen

All freshmen are expected to attend a two-day, overnight orientation session scheduled in July. Several sessions are available; you will be able to register for one that fits your schedule. An orientation fee is applied to all first year students' fall bill.

During Summer in Seattle, you will meet faculty members, learn about academic and community expectations, receive your fall quarter schedule, meet members of your class, learn your way around campus and discover how to use the support services available to students.

Each Summer in Seattle session includes a concurrent family program. Family members learn about transition issues facing students, campus resources and support services, and interact with key university leaders. On-campus lodging is not available for participating family members, but information about nearby hotels will be provided. Cost is $65/family member.

For additional orientation information, please contact the Center for Orientation and Transition Programs at (206) 296-2525 or or visit
