SU Exchanges

Seattle University currently offers nine exchange programs with the partner universities listed below. They allow the unique experience of enrollment in a comprehensive university as well as reciprocally hosting students from that university here on the SU campus.

NEW! Education Abroad Office's online platform Horizons lists all SU-Sponsored and Exchange Programs by field of study.

The institution may offer one course in that discipline or many courses in this discipline. Therefore, students will still need to work with their Academic Advisor and Education Abroad Advisor to determine whether a given program will satisfy an individual's degree requirements. As Seattle University has agreements with these universities, students will not be able to enroll into these schools directly as a Non-SU program. Program Fees listed are based on 2016-2017 rates and are subject to change.

How it works

  • Attend an Information Session at the Education Abroad Office (EAO)
  • Schedule to meet with an Education Abroad Advisor and your academic advisor
  • Apply through SU (see below) by February 1 of the year prior to studying abroad (ex. To study abroad in Fall 2018, Winter 2019 and/or Spring 2019, an application is submitted to EAO by February 1, 2018).
  • 2 RECOMMENDATION REQUIRED! Also must be submitted by February 1 deadline.
*Applicants for Sophia University must have 2 professors that have taught the applicant for an academic course at SU*
  • Students get nominated by the EAO for the program. (The process typically takes 2-3 weeks after the Feb 1 deadline)
  • Once accepted, complete required host institution paperwork and apply for appropriate visa.
  • Complete required SU paperwork and attend pre-departure orientation.
  • Eligible coursework applies toward the SU degree as transfer credits.

Students will be charged one quarter of SU tuition for participation during fall quarter or winter/spring quarters combined. SU, state and federal aid can be applied to SU Exchange programs. Housing is applied through the host university and not included in the tuition cost. Students with questions about their financial aid are highly encouraged to visit the Student Financial Services to learn more. Students are enrolled in the SU required International travel health insurance which is billed to their student account. Program information and estimated budgets can by found by clicking on the links below.
