Seattle University offers support and resources for students pursuing an international internship. Please contact the Education Abroad Office for more details. These include:

Faculty-led Internships

Independent Internships

  • The academic approval process for independent international internships is handled through the individual college. Most colleges will treat these as an independent study. 
  • Apply to internship provider directly. Deadlines vary.
  • Fees are paid directly to internship provider.
  • If receiving SU credit through an independent study, SU tuition is charged.
  • Complete required SU paperwork by published deadlines to avoid late fees and attend pre-departure orientation.
  • State and federal aid might be able to be applied to these programs. Meet with Student Financial Services for more information.
  • Eligible coursework applies toward the SU degree. If granted through an outside provider/institution, it will be applied as transfer credit.

Non-SU Internships

  • Non-SU study abroad organizations offer numerous internship opportunities worldwide.
  • Apply to internship provider directly. Deadlines vary.
  • Fees are paid directly to internship provider.
  • Complete required SU paperwork by published deadlines to avoid late fees and attend pre-departure orientation.
  • State and federal aid might be able to be applied to these programs if completed during fall, winter or spring quarters. Meet with Student Financial Services for more information.
  • Eligible coursework applies toward the SU degree. If granted through an outside provider/institution, it will be applied as transfer credit.
