Travel Warning Policy

This Policy for SU Travel to a Country under Travel Warning applies to any SU international travel, which includes, but not limited to, earning academic credit, conducting research, service, immersion or internships that involve SU students, alumni and/or guests to countries under a US Department of State Travel Warning.

Requests for an exception should be made in writing to the Director of Education Abroad using the Travel Warning Petition demonstrating strong evidence which supports risk is minimal. The deadlines for submitting the petition are:

  • July 15 (Travel September – November)
  • October 15 (Travel December – February)
  • January 15 (Travel March – May)
  • April 15 (Travel June-August)

Failure to complete the petition by the established deadline will jeopardize your participation in the program.
