Can I leave my program early?
Yes, if you would like to leave before your program’s end date contact your Program Provider/Host University and your Education Abroad Advisor and about logistics and feasibility. You are responsible for any costs related to voluntarily leaving your program early. We cannot guarantee you will receive credit for unfinished courses.
If I leave my program early, can I still get credit for the courses I’ve been taking abroad?
Receiving credit will depend on the options available through your Program Provider/Host University. Many programs are developing options for distance-learning/completing courses remotely. Contact your Program Provider/Host University and your Education Abroad Advisor about logistics and feasibility.
If I leave my program early, will I be reimbursed for unused housing costs?
Reimbursement policies are program-specific. Contact your Program Provider/Host University to determine whether reimbursement is possible.
Can I come back to SU for Spring Quarter? How will I enroll in classes? How will I secure housing?
Since Spring Quarter has not yet started, you do have the option of registering for courses and returning to campus. Contact your Academic Advisor and Education Abroad Advisor about course registration and, if you want to live on campus, contact Housing and Residence Life about accommodation availability.
If I return to SU for Spring Quarter, will I be able to access financial aid?
Direct questions about financial aid to Student Financial Services. Copy your Education Abroad Advisor in your communication to SFS so they can assist you.
Will I be quarantined upon re-entering to the United States? Seattle University?
Your arrival destination and the country from which you will be traveling determines quarantine requirements. Contact your airline and consult the CDC’s website for information. At this time, Seattle University is not requiring quarantine. See the University’s COVID-19 website for updated information.
Will our travel be rescheduled for another time after the travel restriction dates?
As the decision has just been made to restrict travel, Program Leaders are working to develop contingency plans. Your Program Leader will keep you updated.
How will I get credit for my course if I can’t go abroad?
Program Leaders and the Dean of your College will determine how you can complete the course and receive credit.
Will I be reimbursed for the program fee and airfare?
Program Leaders and the Dean of your College will determine if any of the program fee is recoverable. Contact your airline for their policies regarding date changes and cancellations. Many airlines are being more flexible with their refund policies given the circumstance, but you need to contact them directly.
When will I be reimbursed by SU?
If any of your program fee is recoverable, your Program Leader will keep you updated with the timeline for reimbursement.
I have been planning to study abroad for over a year. How can the university do this to me?
Know that the Education Abroad Office is deeply saddened by these circumstances and that the University did not make this decision lightly. It was made in an effort to protect the health and safety of our community members and to support global efforts to contain the coronavirus.
I needed to study abroad during Spring Quarter in order to complete requirements for my declared language major/minor. How will I be able to graduate with my declared major/minor without studying abroad?

How do I register for Spring Quarter courses at SU?
You can register for classes through SUOnline or the new MySeattleU portal. Contact your Academic Advisor for assistance with course selection and academic planning.
How do I find housing for Spring Quarter?
