Winter Quarter/Spring Semester 2021 Education Abroad Program Participation Suspended

Dear Students,

I am sad to inform you that the University has made the decision to suspend all Spring Semester/Winter Quarter 2021 education abroad programming. I know how much effort and consideration you have put into deciding to study abroad on just the right program and can imagine your disappointment. This university decision is based on the ongoing health pandemic and the US Department of State Travel Advisories.

After you take some time to process this information, please work with your academic advisors to determine which SU courses you should take in WQ21 and SQ21. Additionally, please connect with your Education Abroad Advisor (Kirsti Ruud or Jenn Chan) if you would like to discuss education abroad options for next academic year.

Sponsored and Exchange Programs Participants

We will inform your program provider of your withdrawal. Your SU student account will be charged based on your enrollment for Winter 2021 SU courses and you will not be charged for your study abroad program. If you wish to defer participation to Academic Year 2021/22, you will need to re-apply through Education Abroad by the February 1, 2021 deadline for consideration. When reviewing applications, EAO will take into consideration that you had been nominated for Academic Year 2020/21.

Non-SU Program Participants

Please inform your program provider that you are withdrawing your enrollment based on your home institution’s decision to suspend participation in study abroad programs beginning in Winter 2021 (typically a Spring Semester). Failure to do so may result in unrecoverable deposits and other payments. SU will not honor transfer credits earned during a Winter 2021 study abroad program. Your SU student account will be charged based on your enrollment for Winter 2021 SU courses.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Warm regards,

Gina
