What factors are considered in the freshman application review process?
Seattle University uses a holistic application review that gives primary consideration to course selection and performance. We seek to enroll students who, beyond meeting the University's eligibility requirements, demonstrate high academic achievement; moral character; evidence of integrity and personal maturity; significant commitment to citizenship through public service, school activities; community involvement and leadership, and who represent a broad diversity of cultural, racial, geographic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
While our review process has no minimum GPA or minimum test score necessary for admission consideration, the middle 50% of enrolled students for fall 2011 fell within the following GPA and test score ranges:
- GPA: 3.3-3.9
- SAT math: 520-630
- SAT critical reading: 530-630
- SAT writing: 530-630
- ACT composite: 24-29
Do you give college credit for AP or IB exams?
Yes. The scores necessary for credit for each exam are outlined on the following pages:

What are the application deadlines?
Freshman applicants should apply by January 15 to receive priority consideration for admission, merit scholarships, and financial aid.
Should I take the SAT or ACT?
Either exam is acceptable; we have no preference for one over the other. We will consider the highest sub-scores, even if taken from exams on separate test dates.
Should I take any SAT Subject tests?
SU does not require SAT subject tests.
Can I apply online?
Yes, you can apply online using the Common Application.
Do I need to apply separately for the degree program that I intend to major in?
No; only one application is needed listing your intended major on the application.
Can I pay the application fee online?
Yes; the application fee can be paid online using a credit card if you submit the Common Application online. Applicants submitting a paper application or Universal College Application will need to send payment by check.
Does Seattle University waive the application fee for transfer applicants?
The application fee is waived for an applicant transferring directly to Seattle University after earning an AA degree from a Washington State Community College.
Can I take a few classes at Seattle University without earning a degree?
Yes; you would apply as a non-matriculated applicant which is a non-degree seeking student.
Is there financial aid for a non-matriculated student?
No. In order to receive financial aid you need to be a matriculated student.
Do I need to fill out the Supplemental Application?
Freshmen, transfer and post-baccalaureate applicants need to submit the Supplemental Application in order for their application to be considered complete.
Can I transfer to Seattle University without a two year degree?
Yes. You can apply to Seattle University without a two year degree.
Will all of my credits transfer from a Washington State Community College?

How long does it take to receive a decision on my application?
Please refer to the freshman or transfer sections of the website for notification timelines.
Can international students receive financial aid and scholarships?
While international students do not qualify for federal financial aid, students are eligible for merit scholarship consideration.
