This past week has been a BUSY one! My indoor rec soccer team is starting, I am going to see Hamlet, and school is busy but great as usual even though Philosophy/ Ethics isn’t my strong suit. One of the highlights of the past weeks was the basketball game that I went to last Thursday!
Athletics, in coordination with the admissions office, reserved a suite for employees of the admissions office to attend the Men’s Basketball game against Pepperdine!
It was AWESOME. We got tons of free food and soda and snacks and all the admissions counselors, student representatives (tour guides) and other employees of the office sat together to cheer for the Redhawks. I had so much fun and it was great time to get to know the office and to be together outside of the “work environment.” I personally think the Admissions office is the best office on campus but then again, I am a little biased. All you prospective students are lucky because the admissions staff is a very hardworking group but also super friendly and all around great people. We played an athletics trivia game in our sweet during halftime and entered a contest to win $25,000 dollars but I didn’t win either.

Here is a picture of Key Arena:
The Redzone is the student fan group and they always have so much fun down in the stands and students get great seats! As a student you receive free admission to basketball games and free transportation to and from Key Arena! What more could you want? There also are opportunities for free food, t-shirts and other stuff! At this game we got free redzone t-shirts and glowsticks because it was the Blackout game and everyone was supposed to wear black.
Overall it was a great time and I want to give a shout out and thank you to Athletics and the Admissions Office!
Also if you ever want to know the fight song, just ask me! I know it by heart.

It’s February 14, 2012. I hope your day is filled with joy and love and sweets and treats. I personally don’t have any plans for the day besides class, work and volunteering. For my service learning portion of my Ignatian Spirituality class I am volunteering at Youthcare’s Orion Center which is a shelter for homeless youth. I will head there this evening to help prepare the shelter and make dinner. I went for the first time on Sunday and had a great experience so I am really looking forward to going back again tonight.
It’s a busy week for me actually. I have advising since registration is next week (MY LAST UNDERGRADUATE REGISTRATION), a quiz, an exam, lots of reading and more! But Thursday should be exciting because Athletics reserved a box for the employees of the Admissions office to go watch the basketball game. I am STOKED. Go Redhawks! Basketball games at Key Arena are a lot of fun and I have received a large amount of free stuff (including food) from them. Students can go for free and are provided with transportation. It’s a great deal.
Yesterday was my roommate’s birthday. Happy 22nd Birthday Max! We went to the Elysian yesterday for lunch. I highly suggest the Elysian. It is a brewery and restaurant and has great food and drinks.
I went to the Yacht concert last week at The Crocodile which was a lot of fun. See picture below:
My co-ed rec indoor soccer team starts this weekend! I am so excited. Our team name is F.R.I.E.N.D.Z and we are going to have so much fun. We made team jerseys. I’ll post a picture eventually!
Also Governor Gregoire signed the Gay Marriage bill for Washington state into law yesterday which is wonderful.

From snow to sun. It has been a surprisingly warm and sunny February! The rain is supposed to come back tomorrow but for the past week it has been SUPER sunny.
Unfortunately I have been sick with a cold and cough which kept me inside for the past week so I had to enjoy the sun from my window. But all my friends had a really good time! I did get to go out when I was feeling better.
I am a little ashamed to admit this since I have been at school here for these past few years but I went to Gas Works for the first time this weekend. For those of you who just gasped out of disbelief because that is your favorite park in Seattle, I am sorry that it has taken me this long. For those of you who don’t know what this park is, let me tell you it is beautiful. If you are visiting Seattle, you definitely need to check it out. Especially if it is nice out! It is featured in one of my favorite movies of all time: 10 Things I Hate About You. If you haven’t seen it, change that.
Here are pictures from when I went with my friends Abbey and Signe:
This sun reminds me of the beautiful spring and summer that are coming eventually! The rain definitely makes you appreciate the nice weather when you get it.
The song is by one of my favorite bands: Yacht. I am seeing them tomorrow! I can’t wait.
