The SU ORCA Card for students has an all-inclusive (minus major Ferry fares) feature with a face value of over $1,500. However, with generous subsidization from the university transportation program, Seattle University students receive the pass for only $300 per academic year (does not include summer sessions). Payment can be made in one lump sum or in installments (Semester or Quarterly).
It is very easy to order a SU ORCA Card, and students can enroll in the program at any time. Start by verifying your program eligibility below and submitting your registration information. Processing takes about two business days, after which time students will be contacted via email to come into our office to pick up and pay for their card. You will find answers to the program's most frequently asked questions below.
How do I renew my enrollment?
If you chose to pay in installments (see pricing/ payment options at the bottom of this page), when it is time to renew your card you will need to first re-enroll online then come into our office and make your payment sometime before the expiration date. Expiration dates are also listed below. If your email is registered with us, you should receive a courtesy email notifying you of the expiring enrollment approximately one week before you're renewal date. Note: this email is just a courtesy reminder. Students are encouraged to make a personal note of when their enrollment expires. Public Safety will not be responsible for missed enrollment renewal dates and subsequent card deactivation.
What happens if I lose my card?
After reporting your card lost to Public Safety, there is a two business day processing time after which point you are eligible to purchase a replacement card for $10. The replacement fee increases to $25 the second time a student loses their card and $50 if the student loses their card a third time.
What happens if my card is stolen?
If the student files a police report for their stolen card and brings a copy of the report into our office, students can request a replacement card free of charge. This request could take up to two business days to process. To report the stolen card, you can either visit a local SPD precinct or call the non-emergency business line to file a stolen property report. The number to call is as follows: (206) 625-5011. When you encounter the phone tree, you can enter the # 2 then the # 8 to file your report. Be sure to record the stolen report number.
What are the eligibility requirements to participate in the Student Orca program?
There are three main requirements: You must be currently enrolled in credit hours at Seattle University, the pass must only be used for personal commute needs; and you must not currently be enrolled in a Seattle University parking permit.
Can I put my own money or a Ferry pass on my Seattle University issued ORCA card?
We ask that you NOT put any money or Ferry products on your SU issued ORCA Card. Students can still take advantage of the 25% Ferry product subsidy, but must purchase Ferry product separately and bring your receipts to DPS and request a reimbursement. Because your card is registered under a Seattle University account, retrieving any personal funds from this card is nearly impossible. Seattle University will NOT be responsible for any personal funds or additional products put on your Seattle University ORCA Card. We encourage that a separate (non-SU issued) card is purchased for personal/ additional use. That is, for products not covered by your SU ORCA Card such as Ferry products or E-purse funds.
