STM offers this program as a foundation for anyone interested in theology and ministry. The courses meet the admissions requirement of two undergraduate theology classes. Each class is $50. Class size is limited, so reserve a spot by enclosing your check payable to STM at least one week prior to the starting date of your choice of class(es). HISTORY OF THE CHURCH
with Mike Raschko, Ph.D.
A survey of the history of Christianity during the past two millennia; this course is designed to give students a basic overview of key events, peoples, and movements in Christian history.

INTRODUCTION TO THEOLOGY
with Mark Lloyd Taylor, Ph.D.
Together, we will approach theology as imaginative and self-critical understanding of Christian faith; locate theology in relation to Christian praxis, worship, and doctrine; explore some major themes and root metaphors of Christian theology (as expressed in a variety of media); identify the distinctive emphases of several Christian theological/denominational traditions; and introduce a few important theologians, past and present.

INTRODUCTION TO SCRIPTURE STUDY: “What’s a pericope?”
with Kathryn Rickert, MDiv, Ph.D.
This prerequisite course will help people learn to read the Scriptures with a variety of techniques including form critical, historical critical, and literary critical. In addition, it will offer a quick overview of the whole of the Scriptures. This course is recommended to any student planning to take Hebrew Scriptures in the Fall. *Please bring at least one Bible (two are preferred) to the first session!
