    Seattle University Runner Up for Green Washington Award
    Thursday, September 23, 2010 -   Seattle Business Magazine's annual Green Washington Awards program recognizes organizations on the forefront of making Washington a greener place to live and work.  Seattle University was a runner up for its post-consumer compost program. The outdoor collection bins collected an estimated 34,000 pounds of organic waste in 2009 while the bins in the Cherry St. Market and Bistro collected 130,000 pounds.  In 2010 the program expanded to the residence halls and collects an estimated 2,000 pounds per week.
