  • Microsoft Outlook - How to Archive Your Emails

     

    Objective:

    Archive your emails in Microsoft Outlook 2010

    1. Open Microsoft Outlook 2010  and go to File .
    2. Under Cleanup Tools  choose Archive .
    3. Save your archive in your  P-drive .

    Detail: Step by step:

    Archiving emails will free up space in your mailbox. Archiving old emails means that you are removing them from the online inbox and saving them in a file offline. Archived items will remain accessible as a folder in Microsoft Outlook 2010, but not online at Office 265 or Outlook Web App (owa.seattleu.edu).

    Step 1:  Open Microsoft Outlook 2010.

    Step 2:  Click on File in the upper left-hand corner.

    Step 3:  Click on Cleanup Tools.

    Step 4: Choose Archive from the drop-down menu.

    Step 5: Select the email folders you would like to archive, and use the drop-down menu to choose a date to archive items older than.

    Step 6:  In the Archive file:  box, enter the file path for your P: Drive.

    Saving your archive to the P:drive will make your archives available on any University computer, not merely your personal work computer.

    • You may enter the file path by clicking the Browse button, and navigating to your P:Drive folder in the resulting window

    • Or you may enter the file path manually using the following format:  \\oitfs1\students\username  or \\oitfs1\fac-staff\username

    Step 7: Once the file path has been entered, click OK .

    Step 8:  Your archives will now appear in the left-hand pane with your other folders.
