  • Cisco VPN - Install VPN on a Mac

     

    Objective:

    Install Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client for secured connectivity off campus on your Mac. With this software you can connect to the Seattle University network from off campus, and access P: and T: drives or other features.

    1. Go to www.seattleu.edu/oit/restricted.aspx.
    2. Scroll down and locate VPN Software. Click on Mac OS X VPN Software and save the file to your computer.
    3. Verify the Mac OS X Security Settings will allow the software installation.
    4. Install the software.
    5. Run the Cisco AnyConnect application and enter vpn.seattleu.edu into the connection bar. Use your SU username and password to log in.  

         

          Detail: Step by step:

          The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client is used to establish a connection between the computer you are using and the Seattle University network, allowing users to access services like P: and T: Drives or Remote Desktop from your home computer or laptop when off campus. 

          Prerequisites:

          • The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client only works off campus. It will not work if you are on campus.
          • This software is compatible with Mac OS X 10.9
          • Verify the Mac OS X Security Settings will allow the software installation. Click the Apple > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Make sure Allow applications downloaded from is set to Anywhere. Change the setting if need be by clicking on the lock at the lower left corner of the window and following the prompts.

          Step 1: Open a web browser and go to www.seattleu.edu/oit/restricted.aspx and log in with your SU username and password.

          Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the page and locate VPN Software. Click on Mac OS X VPN Software and save the file to your computer.

          Step 3: Go to the folder where you saved the downloaded .zip file. Double-click the .zip file.

          Step 4: Click on AnyConnect 3.1.04074.dmg.

          Step 5: Double-click AnyConnect.pkg and follow the Client Installer prompts through the Software License Agreement.

          Step 6: At the Installation Type screen, check only VPN and Diagnostics and Reporting Tool.

          Step 7: Continue with the remaining prompts until you see a message saying the installation was successful.

          Step 8: Click Applications, open the Cisco folder, and click the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

          Step 9: Beneath Ready to Connect type vpn.seattleu.edu and click Connect.

          Step 10: Enter your Seattle University username and password.

          Step 11: Agree to the Seattle U Acceptable use Policy by clicking Accept. You are now connected to the Seattle U network.
