Yi Lian Klimecki

About Yi Lian Klimecki

Yi Lian Klimecki graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson, AZ. She was a member of the Art Club, the Young Democrats Club and National Honors Society. She designed a mural for the 2008 Virgen de Guadalupe mass which was retained for permanent display. Yi Lian taught school, ran workshops and created a telenovela media project with the youth of the Nicaraguan village under the auspices of Amigos de las Americas. She won a KEYS (Keep Engaging Youth in Science) summer internship at the University of Arizona's BIO 5 Institute, where she assisted in the genetic analysis of snails. Currently, Yi Lian is pursuing a nursing-biology dual degree. She hopes to work abroad as a nurse in global health. In 2012, she spent two months living in Cusco, Peru and volunteering at a clinic. Also in Peru, she assisted in data collection for the Children's Oral Health and Nutrition Project pertaining to malnutrition and dental hygiene in rural populations in the Andes.
