Welcome, Isiaah Crawford

A new era in Seattle University academics begins July 1 with the arrival of Provost Dr. Isiaah Crawford, successor to Provost Emeritus John Eshelman. Crawford brings to SU a deep awareness and appreciation for Jesuit education—he spent more than 20 years in teaching and leadership roles at Loyola University Chicago.

Standing for Justice

Standing for Justice

Two Washington bar associations have honored School of Law Dean Kellye Testy for her work in bettering the legal profession and justice system. Dean Testy received the Loren Miller Bar Association President's Award and the King County Bar Association's Friend of the Legal Profession Award.

Testy is credited with raising the law school's presence and impact in the legal community, and for advancing legal education by combining academic excellence with a mission for justice.

Commencement 2008

You Did It!

At this year's commencement, more than 1,900 undergraduate and graduate students were sent off into the world as the Class of 2008. Our graduates, joined by their proud parents, friends and family received their degrees at commencement ceremonies at Seattle's Qwest Field on June 15.

Celebrating Mass

Before the big day, Seattle University students and their families participated in another important ceremony that is a tradition for the graduating class: Baccalaureate Mass at St. James Cathedral.

Star Athlete

Women's basketball standout Jackie Thomas, '08, has been named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar for 2008, as chosen by the Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine. Recipients were selected based on their work on and off the court. This is the latest honor for Thomas, who is the #1 all-time steals leader at SU (in men's and women's basketball). The scholar-athlete received the Distinguished Graduate Award and was a co-nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year.
