The intent of this award is service. The chief feature that will be reviewed is your past, current and/or future plans for civic service, community outreach. While we are also very interested in your proposed project, please do not feel your proposal must be etched in stone. We are primarily interested in your focus (please be creative) and how you work will be communicated back to the Chapter.
Your application will be reviewed by a committee composed of Alpha Sigma Chapter and Board members (including one SU School of Nursing faculty member). Selection criteria for the scholarship include:
- Clarity of application, demonstration of Dean Ridgway’s outreach mission,
- Evidence of measurable outcomes within proposal,
- Specified plan to communicate results of project to Alpha Sigma general membership, and
- Presence of an attached letter of recommendation from your sponsoring faculty member.
The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Nursing and in good academic standing. As of November 2004, you no longer have to be a Sigma Theta Tau member (or eligible candidate).
