This next month, Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry
will host a week-long international conference in partnership with the
Lutheran World Federation on the topic of “Religious Identity &
Renewal: Jewish, Christian & Muslim Explorations.” A select group of
interreligious scholars and faith community leaders from across the
globe will gather at Seattle University the week of August 10th. Attendees will explore the meaning of
religious identity and renewal in light of current cultural
demands—interpreting past, present, and future challenges to themselves,
society and the world. The conference will provide theological
reflection from the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions, including
theological perspectives of renewal shaped by their tradition’s concept
of God, God’s presence and God’s action.The school’s Dr. Michael
Reid Trice, Rev. Dr. Michael Kinnamon, and Rabbi Anson Laytner will be
facilitating conversations in sessions throughout the week, along with
others from South Africa, India, Indonesia, Germany, Israel, Tanzania,
