Seattle University once again ranks among top regional universities in the West, according to today’s U.S. News and World Report America’s Best Colleges 2013.

SU ranks 10th among 121 regional universities in the West that provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s degree programs. The university has maintained a spot in the top 10 consistently for more than a decade.

The prestigious academic ranking coincides with widespread recognition of the university’s significant achievements in academic excellence, campus experience, athletics and commitment to service and social justice as a Jesuit Catholic university.

The university was also recently honored as one of the country's best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review’s annual college guide, The Best 377 Colleges. Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges and just three colleges outside the U.S. are profiled in the book, a top go-to guide for prospective students and their parents.

SU continues to move forward with more than $100 million worth of capital investments, including a new fitness center that opened last fall, and Seattle University Park, a vibrant outdoor community gathering space and multipurpose recreation area for all students, including those involved in intramurals, club and recreational sports and intercollegiate athletics scheduled to open next week.

“We are pleased to be recognized among the nation’s strongest master’s comprehensive institutions by U.S. News & World Report,” said Isiaah Crawford, provost.

U.S. News rankings are based on a variety of factors such as freshmen retention, graduation rate, student-to-faculty ratio and how favorably a school is regarded by administrators at peer institutions. For additional information about the rankings, visit http://www.usnews.com/education.
