Soup with Substance-Sexual Violence
Tuesday, Feb. 12, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
LeRoux Conference Center (STCN 160)

Campus Ministry’s next Soup with Substance will explore the issue of sexual violence. With a simple lunch consisting of soup and bread and a room set up to promote round table discussion, the students and faculty of Seattle University will engage with local voices of authority about sexual violence. Conversation will center on the issues of sex trafficking in Seattle, consent on campus and elsewhere, and the resources available for victims of sexual abuse. Bring a friend, bring your thoughts, and share in the experience of conversation and advocating for this critical justice issue. For more information, contact Colleen Newell in Campus Ministry at newellc@seattleu.edu.

Tuesday Evenings of Prayer

Every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Campus Ministry is hosting a space for guided contemplative prayer in the narthex of the Chapel of St. Ignatius. This quarter’s offerings are: Feb. 5 - contemplative yoga with Liz; Feb. 12 - guided meditation with Kaitlyn. Each Tuesday thereafter during Lent is Taizé Prayer. All students, graduate students, faculty and staff are welcome to participate in these evenings of rest and reflection. For more information, contact Kaitlyn Dirksen in Campus Ministry at dirksenk@seattleu.edu.

Ash Wednesday Services

All are welcomed to attend Ash Wednesday services on Feb. 13. Masses will be held at 7:15 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Ignatius. There will also be an Ecumenical Liturgy at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel, which will be a presentation of the Word and distribution of ashes. For more information, visit Campus Ministry or contact Dan Pearson at pearson3@seattleu.edu.

“Food for Words” Poetry Reading
Gabriella Gutiérrez y Muhs
Thursday, Feb. 14, 9-10 a.m.
Admissions and Alumni Community Room

Please join us for this delightful way to begin Valentine’s Day! Celebrated international poet, scholar and SU Modern Languages and Women and Gender Studies Associate Professor Gabriella Gutiérrez y Muhs will read selected poetry and prose. Gutiérrez is a witty, grounded wordsmith, and she puts words in the service of complex truths about a range of border crossings, human conditions and relationships, and stories about food, which will be one focus of her reading. This event is sponsored by Women and Gender Studies and the Patricia Wismer Center for Gender, Justice and Diversity. Free and open to the public. For more information, contact Victoria Kill at vkill@seattleu.edu.
