Gloria Burgess, Ph.D.

Adjunct Faculty and new Contextual Ed Coordinator, Dr. Gloria Burgess is presenting at the International Leadership Association Conference in Denver, CO, October 24-27 on the topics of "Bridging Art and Leadership through Qualitative Inquiry" and “Leading in Complex Worlds”.

"Bridging Art and Leadership through Qualitative Inquiry"

Gloria will present on a panel that explores methods, obstacles, and potentials of qualitative research; describes a project that uses qualitative inquiry to bridge the divide between art and leadership; and shares how artistic paradigms can provide images, motifs, and language that leaders and leadership educators can use to insightfully respond to complex challenges.

"Leading in Complex Worlds: A Conversation with the Editors of ILA’s 2012 Building Leadership Bridges Volume"
Gloria will be on a panel who will share their experiences, findings, and lessons learned in meeting the challenges of reviewing, selecting, editing, and publishing in a complex, global context as volunteer editors of ILA 's annual publication. She curated and edited the section called “Promising Approaches to Meeting the Challenges of Leadership Practice.”

A long-time friend and community steward of Providence’s diverse ministries, Gloria has presented a number of keynotes, invocations, blessings, and legacy tributes for this organization over the years. Most recently, she was invited to the Providence Mount St. Vincent’s Annual Legacy Luncheon in Seattle, on October 11, 2012 to introduce Rwandan genocide survivor and internationally acclaimed author and peacemaker Imaculeé Ilibagiza. Gloria also served as weaver for fundraising, to support the spiritual care and loving hospice of our elders who have outlived their financial resources.

I GOT KIN

"Plant

So that your own heart

Will grow.

Love

So God will think,

'Ahhhhh,

I got kin in that body!

I should start inviting that soul over

For coffee and

Rolls.'

Sing- Give

Because this is food

Our starving world

Needs."
