The Gallery Collection is holding a "Create-A-Holiday-Card" Scholarship Contest. Participants have a chance to win a $10,000 scholarship and $1,000 for their school, college or university.

Philip B. Swain Scholarship

The Philip B. Swain Scholarship is available to graduating seniors in Seattle Public Schools. Applicants must meet ALL of these requirements:

Be a graduating senior from any Seattle Public High School
Have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or better
Anticipate enrollment for fall 2009 and be enrolled at least one-half time at an accredited institution of higher education.
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or above in his/her chosen institution of higher education.
Demonstrate financial need.

The application process includes:

A one page list of significant activites and honors, emphasizing community service
A personal statement, no longer than 2 pages, describing how attending college is an important part of the applicant's plan to make a difference in the world.
Two letters of recommendation (more info on application)
Official transcript from high school
A copt of the FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)

Catholic Daughters Father Leonard Bachmann Graduate Scholarships

Nursing Scholarship - US Dept of Health and Human Services (HRSA)

The US Deptartment of Health and Human Services is offering a Nursing Scholarship. According to their website, the Nursing Scholarship Program (NSP or "Nursing Scholarship") is a competitive Federal program which awards scholarships to individuals for attendance at schools of nursing. The scholarship consists of payment for tuition, fees, other reasonable educational costs, and a monthly support stipend. In return, the students agree to provide a minimum of 2 years of full-time clinical service (or an equivalent part-time commitment, as approved by the NSP) at a health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses."

Dell Foundation Scholarship - Dell Scholars Program

The Dell Scholarship program is a "scholarship that looks beyond academic performance and grades...Unlike many other college scholarships, the Dell Scholars Program recognizes academic potential and determination in students that have a definite need for financial assistance."

Fisher Communications Minority Scholarship

Fisher Communications, Inc. is offering a scholarship to permanent residents of WA, OR, ID, CA, and MT. Eligible students must be a sophomore or above enrolled in a broadcast oriented curriculum (radio, television, marketing or broadcast technology). Students must be non-white with a minimum 2.5 GPA and provide proof of U.S. citizenship.

Edith Langley Memorial Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship is in the amount of $400, and will be awarded in mid-September to an undergraduate female nursing student. Applicants must be enrolled or admitted to a program of nursing in western WA, working on a bachelor's degree in nursing. Applications must also be over 25 years of age.

Women's Independence Scholarship Program

Originally the scholarship was through The Sunshine Lady Foundation, but now it is handled by the Women's Independence Scholarship Program or WISP. Within this organization there are two scholarships listed under the Programs tab on the website:

1. Women's Independence Scholarship Program (WISP): This scholarship is for survivors of domestic violence and their dependents.
2. Counselor, Advocate and Support Staff Scholarship (CASS): This is for folks working in the field to help fight domestic violence.

Application must include transcript, 2 references, and an explanation of future vocation and aims and purposes.

Nordstrom Scholarship

The Nordstrom Scholarship will be awarded to five students in the WA/AK region. Each $10,000 Scholarship will be paid over four years in equal installments of $2500. Scholarships are for attendance at a four-year college or university. Students must meet the following criteria:

High School Junior
Have and maintain a cumulative, unweighted GPA of at least 2.7 through their high school career
Require financial assitance to attend college
Attend an accredited four-year college or university during all years for which the scholarship is awarded
Be eligible to attend a four-year college or university in the U.S.
Currently reside and attend school in the WA/AK region
Not have a conviction for any crime
