Investing in Your Future

Your education is perhaps the only asset you'll ever have which is guaranteed never to decrease in value. People pay off things of value over long periods of time; think of a home or automobile. That's exactly what student loans let you do. Your ability to repay the loan is based on the reasonable assumption that your future income as a college graduate will make loan repayment manageable.

For more information about the loans included on your award letter or those for which you can apply beyond those we've awarded, click on any of the topics in the "In This Section" column on the left side of the screen.

Direct Loan Repayment Calculator

Even before you accept your first loan, it's good to have an idea about how loan repayment will look when you graduate. The Direct Loan Repayment Calculator is a good tool to help you do that.

Once your loan actually enters repayment, The Direct Loan Program offers loan repayment plans designed to meet the needs of almost every borrower. Direct Loans are funded by the U.S. Department of Education and are managed by the Direct Loan Servicing Center, under the supervision of the Department. The Direct Loan Program allows you to choose your repayment plan and to switch your plan if your needs change.
