Much of our work in Reprographic Services consists in producing course packs and instruction manuals for your classes. We take pride in producing your work professionally. If you are unfamiliar with preparation for printing, or just want some hints to make the process easier, please take a few minutes to read over these suggestions for preparing your work for reproduction.

PRE PRODUCTION SET-UP When copying material from a book or magazine, keep your copy on the light side, as each new 'generation' tends to be darker. Allow generous margins (3/4” - 1”) for trims, binding, hole drilling, etc.         Choose the best quality copier available, and make sure the glass is clean.

Note; When copying from an undersized book, cut a template from white paper in which to set the book. This will keep margins consistent, and help eliminate background areas.

Whenever possible, submit one sided originals.

Put your own page numbers on originals. You may also insert a blank sheet when necessary with a page number, so that articles or chapters will begin on a right hand (odd numbered) page.

Note; We call these 'chapter starts' and can program the copier to do this, if you prefer. A blank sheet is considered an original and will add to your total number. However, we often charge a small set-up fee for programming chapter starts.

THE ORDER FORM Please fill out the order form as completely as possible. Any special instructions or special paper should be clearly specified. If you order covers, we assume it to mean a printed front cover and a blank back cover. Any other request should be marked.

COLLATING OPTIONS In some cases you may want to order an equal number of copies of several articles, stapled separately, as one order. We can do up to five articles per order this way at no charge, but it is important to specify “staple as clipped” on the work order. Also, if you want the articles collated together, please specify “collate as packets” or “collate as sets”.

Note; Formats for copies in landscape orientation vary depending on the end-use of the piece:

  • Shorter articles to be stapled are run head-to-head.
  • If a piece is to be bound or three-hole drilled, the copies are run head -to-toe.
