Tuition Exchange/FACHEX
Procedures and Conditions
- Faculty, administrators, and staff should request that the TE/FACHEX
coordinator at their home institution notify Seattle University of
their son or daughter's eligibility for the TE/FACHEX benefit no later
than February 1. The TE/FACHEX award is for full-tuition for eight
consecutive semesters and is not transferable to study abroad programs.
Students must be enrolled full-time each quarter to receive the award.
This award does not cover housing, meal plans, or fees. Reinstatement
of the scholarship will be contingent upon the number of openings
available at the time of return for students who interrupt their studies
at Seattle University to take a year off or to attend another school.
- The deadline for priority consideration for first-time freshman
fall quarter consideration is February 1st. A TE/FACHEX determination
will be made after the student is certified as eligible by one's home
institution and has been accepted for admission. Please note that
TE/FACHEX certification does not qualify applicants for admission
nor does an offer of acceptance assure a TE/FACHEX award.
- It is Seattle University's policy to require that students apply
for financial aid by February 1st to receive priority consideration
for any available financial aid. Students must submit their completed
FAFSA form by February 1st.
- Please note that TE/FACHEX openings are limited. Each institution
has its own criteria and process for selecting candidates to receive
the award. Seattle University’s Human Resources Department verifies
Seattle University employees’ eligibility for participation in these
programs but does not participate in the final award selection for
incoming freshmen.
- The Admissions Office will select the TE/FACHEX candidates employing
the same methodology as with academic scholarship recipients. After
identifying the top candidates, the TE/FACHEX offer will be offered
in early March. The student will be asked to confirm the offer by
May 1. Candidates not selected to receive an award will be offered
the opportunity to be on a waiting list in the event another opening
becomes available.
- Students are required to submit a $200 non-refundable confirmation
deposit to secure their positions in the freshman class. This must
be postmarked by the Candidate's Reply Date of May 1.
- Students must complete a FAFSA each academic year. If you qualify,
you may receive a Pell Grant or federal loan/work study awards up
to your demonstrated financial need. If you receive a "state
grant" or "Non-Seattle University grant designated for tuition",
the combination of your Tuition Exchange award and these awards cannot
exceed full tuition. Also, Tuition Exchange recipients who receive
academic scholarships will have their tuition exchange award reduced
by the amount of the scholarship. The Office of Student Financial
Services will send you a letter reflecting any adjustments.
- Students must meet standards of academic performance and personal
conduct at the end of spring term preceding the renewal date and have
a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 at Seattle University
to remain eligible for tuition remission from the home campus.
