SEYH Volunteers

Our Vision

We're passionate about making sure every girl knows she is capable of achievement in science, math and technology. It's a big job, and we can't do it alone. It takes nearly 200 volunteers spending 2000 volunteer hours to organize and host just one conference. Now you know why volunteers are one of our greatest assets.

Quest WE ARE ON A QUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS!

Join us on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Seattle University.  The average volunteer day is 7:30am - 2:00pm, with some volunteers arriving earlier or only working for part of the conference.  We need your help to make this event a success.  Sign up by sending an email to volunteer@seyh.org.

Our Volunteers

The planning committee recruits volunteers from throughout the community to plan and host the SEYH conference. Our volunteers are college students, parents, business professionals, and teachers. Their jobs include:

  • Event planning
  • Obtaining contributions, in-kind donations, and scholarships
  • Directing girls on conference day
  • Assisting presenters
  • Helping out behind the scenes and on the "front line"

The benefits of volunteering

Yes, it's meeting your responsibility for community service. But it's so much more.

It's the satisfaction you feel hearing a mom ask, "Hey, what did you do to these girls today? I haven't heard my daughter talk this excitedly about anything in a long time!"

It's the pleasure you get working with other volunteers who share your passion for making a difference in girls' lives.

It's the gift of an unexpected "thank you" from the nervous girl who lost her way on campus and found you to ease her fears and walk her to the next workshop.

It's the rush watching a group of girls experimenting in a chemistry lab, and suddenly hearing them say "this is so cool - look what we did!"
