Dr. Stipe received his B.S. degree from Montana State University at Bozeman in 1998. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001 and 2003, respectively. Professor Stipe’s research interests include renewable energy, combustion pollution, and nano/biotechnology. After graduating from MSU, he worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, conducting structural testing on wind turbine blades in Boulder, Colorado. For his Ph.D. research, he developed laser techniques to measure and generate nanoparticles at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Upon completing his Ph.D., he conducted research in neuron guidance at the University of Minnesota as a NIH Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with an interdisciplinary team from Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, and Neuroscience.
