Mount Fuji, Japan

During their study abroad in a Japanese engineering program at Kogakuin University, K. Goebel '09 and A. Beach '10 took an overnight hike up Mt. Fuji in Japan and caught the sunrise at the summit.

Munich, Germany

hensley_3During his education abroad undergraduate research experience in Germany, besides measuring beer in one-liter mugs (they use the metric system), B. Hensley '09 visited Deutsches Museum in Munich.

The museum has a wonderful collection of mechanical engineering marvels, including the first diesel engine (1897) by Dr. Rudolph Diesel, the first motor-vehicle by Karl Benz, and many early prototypes of jet propulsion.


Reno, Nevada

Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaProf. Clayton '01, visiting the Liberty Bell

Wearing a Villanova cap, Dr. G. Clayton '01 visits the Liberty Bell Center in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Clayton is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering in Villanova University, where he teaches and conduct research in imaged-based control. Dr. Glayton is a department alumni and an adjuct Dr. Shih at CPTfaculty during 2007-8.


Compton, California

Back on the streets of LA; Dr. Shih visits the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial at the civic center in city of Compton, California.

Taipei, Taiwan

Dr. Shih visits his ancestral home in Taipei, Taiwan. This photo was taken at the plaque marking the exact location where a government agent fire the first shot on civilians (on 南京西路 and 延平北路, near Taipei Main Station) during an altercation in Feb 28, 1947, which started the 228 incident.
