Machine Shop
The machine shop is supervised by Mr. Jeff Wilhite. The machine shop has the following equipments (non-exhaustively listed) to support instruction and research:
- Hardinge toolroom HLV-H lathe
- Graziano SAG 12 lathe
- 3 Wilton instructional engine lathes
- Hardinge horizontal mill
- Bridgeport I & II CNC vertical mill
- proLIGHT 1000 CNC vertical mill
- A vertical band saw w/30" throat
- Sheet metal shears to 18 gage x 36"
- Oxy-acetylene, MIG, and TIG welding equipments
- Miller plasma cutter
- Dimension rapid prototype machine
Students can use the shop (with supervision) after they are trained in MEGR 106.
Machine Shop: A. Lybarger '06 programmed a Bridgeport Series II vertical mill and is cutting a large curved aluminum beam for instructional use. Mechanical Engineering students learn basic machining skills in MEGR 306 Machine Shop. One-on-one apprentice style training on machining and welding is also available.
