SEATTLE UNIVERSITY

MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT

FACULTY POSITIONS

The Mathematics Department at Seattle University invites applications for two full-time instructor positions beginning September 2013. These positions are not on the tenure track, but successful candidates will be offered renewable multi-year contracts. Instructors are expected to teach a variety of undergraduate courses and provide departmental service, which may include advising. A Ph.D. in mathematics or closely related discipline, promise of teaching excellence, and a commitment to undergraduate education are essential.

Seattle University, founded in 1891, is a Jesuit Catholic university located on 48 acres on Seattle’s Capitol Hill. More than 7,500 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs within eight schools. U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Colleges 2013” ranks Seattle University among the top 10 universities in the West that offer a full range of masters and undergraduate programs. Seattle University is an equal opportunity employer.

Inquiries regarding the position should be directed to Dr. Jeff Boersema (boersema@seattleu.edu). Applications should be submitted at the mathjobs website (https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/jobs/4682) and should include curriculum vitae, at least three letters of reference, and a statement of teaching philosophy. Review of applications will begin April 15, 2013. Open until filled.

The Mathematics Department at Seattle University successfully hired three new tenure track faculty members who arrived for the fall quarter of 2012-2013.   We do not anticipate hiring any tenure track faculty members to start in the 2013-2014 academic year.
