Pre-Engineering

Pre-Engineering provides an opportunity to get started in an engineering program while learning about the different branches of engineering. Initially the curriculum consists of common classes for all engineering disciplines, giving you time to choose the best program for you. Your advisor, Rachael Sartor, will help guide you toward a major that fits your interests and talents.
Some of the ways we help your take the steps towards the best engineering major for you include:
- Introductory engineering courses that help you to differentiate between the different engineering fields, with seminars by practicing engineers, field trips to construction sites and design offices, and hands-on design projects.
- Opportunity to meet with practicing engineers and ask questions during the fall Engineering Mentor Night
- Referrals to faculty in the engineering programs for informational interviews
- Seminars by professionals in the engineering field
- Online career assessment and interpretation in interests and values clarification
