Senior Synthesis ISSC 489-490
Overall Objectives:
- Fulfill senior synthesis graduation requirement
- Appreciate the investigative work of other General Science students
- Create a sense of community in General Science
- Promote skills involved in reading and writing scientifically
ISSC 489 Objectives: (Winter)
- Teach skills needed to support senior synthesis project, specifically computer assisted literature searching and scientific writing.
- Provide opportunities for student selection of a topic
- Facilitate student preparation of an annotated bibliography
- Read and learn about chosen topic (progress reports)
- Prepare outline of paper
- Prepare rough draft of paper
- Consider the relationships between Core courses and science
ISSC 490 Objectives: (Spring)
- Orally present topic
- Refine the draft of the paper in response to adviser comments
- Learn what other general science students have been up to through seminar
- Submit the paper in its final form
