Why Should I Contact My Adviser?
- I need assistance scheduling for next quarter or I have it all figured out and want to make sure it is ok. Sign up EARLY.
- I am on probation.
- I am having trouble in class(es) and don't know where to go for help.
- I want to map out a plan to complete this program in X years.
- What are the implications (scheduling) if I drop a course?
- What is left to graduate? Can I graduate X quarter?
- I want to change my major (be sure to make an appointment with the new program too).
- Everything is full and I have run out of options.
- Things are OK, but how can I make it better?
- Everything is fine, just wanted to say HI, things are going great.
- I graduated and just wanted to give you an update on what I am doing.
Sometimes an email is sufficient, but other times not. Scheduling and graduation issues can sometimes get complicated and face-to-face is necessary to discuss the options, prerequisites, sequencing and limited quarters that a course may be offered. During advising time please sign up on your adviser's door and do not email or phone in appointments. During the rest of the quarter, use office hours, make an appointment through phone or email, or drop in and see if the door is open.
