Agilent IntuiLink Data Capture Software
Agilent IntuiLink Data Capture is a software solution that captures waveform and/or data from the test and measurement instrument to the PC.
Step 1. To open IntuiLink click Start > All Programs > LabApps > Agilent > Run IntuiLink Data Capture.

Step 2. New users to a workstation must first setup the IntuiLink software, please jump to the IntuiLink Software Setup section below.
Step 3. If you have already completed the software setup you can begin the screen capture by selecting the Get Data icon.

The oscilloscope will display "Remote operation in progress. Please wait." You can now save to file, print, or copy-n-paste the image. DONE!
Step 1. In the IntuiLink software select the Instrument menu as highlighted in blue below.

Step 2. Select the Set I/O tab then press the Find Instruments button

Step 3. As exampled below click on the address beginning with "USB" from the menu Select Address(es) and press the Identify Instrument(s) button.
- If no USB port is displayed try checking the USB cable.
Step 4. As shown below, the scope should now be identified. Press the OK button
Step 5. Press the OK button
SETUP IS COMPLETE! You can now capture the screen anytime by selecting the Get Data icon.

The oscilloscope will display "Remote operation in progress. Please wait." You can now save to file, print, or copy-n-paste the image.
Capture & Print Options
IntuiLink is capable of downloading both
the oscilloscope screen image and the waveform in numerical data (useful for
spreadsheets and data analysis) as well as setting other color, grayscale, and scaling options.
a. For faster capture uncheck the field Get waveform data to download only the screen image if you don't need the numerical data.

b. When printing check the option to Fit to page to scale image to entire page.
c. More printing options are shown below.
a) To run IntuiLink see the start menu example below.
How to capture the scope screen to the PC
a) New users to the workstation must have first completed the software setup once - See section below: Software Setup for 54621
b) If you have completed the software setup prior begin the screen capture by selecting the [Get Data] icon.

c) The oscilloscope will display "Remote operation in progress. Please wait."
d) Done
If any errors please proceed below.
a) New users to the workstation will have to run the software setup below once.
b) Check that the RS232 cable is connected from the PC to the oscilloscope.
d) Try power cycling the scope and restart IntuiLink software. This often works.
Software Setup for model 54621
Setup IntuiLink Data Capture Software for model 54621
a) From the [Instrument] menu select [54620/40-Series] (for oscilloscope models 54603B and 54645D only select 54600-Series)
IntuiLink is capable of downloading both the oscilloscope Screen Image and the Waveform Data (useful for spreadsheets and data analysis).
b) Uncheck field [Get waveform data] to download only the Screen Image for faster capture.

c) Select the [Set I/O] tab then [Find Instruments] button

d) Select [Identify Instrument(s)] button
e) Set all RS232 settings as show below
Baud Rate = 57600 for oscilloscope model 54621A (or 19200 for models 54603B and 54645D)
Note Parity, Size, and HandShake settings that must be set appropriately!

f) The instrument found should display as shown below.
g) Pressthe [Connect] button
h) Instrument should be displayed as "Connected". Press the [Close] button.

i) Press the [OK] button
j) Oscilloscope will display [Remote operation in progress. Please wait.]

k) When download completed, screen will be displayed within IntuiLink.

l) You can now save, print, or copy the screen capture image.
J) When printing you can set it to scale to fit the entire page in the print menu.
J) Done
If any errors please proceed below.
a) Check that the RS232 cable is connected from the PC to the oscilloscope.
b) Try power cycling the scope and software. That sometime works.
Check Oscilloscope RS232 Settings for Model 54621A
The oscilloscope RS232 settings must match both the IO Connection Expert and IntuiLink Data Capture settings.
a) Select oscilloscope [Utility] button then select I/O.

b) Set the correct Baud Rate and DTR setting for the connected oscilloscope.
Baud Rate = 57600 for oscilloscope model 54621A (or 19200 for models 54603B and 54645D)
Handshaking = DTR for all oscilloscope.
c) Still not working? Try power cycling the scope and software. That often works.
d) Try the setup again or proceed below.
Check Agilent IO Control setup
a) Click on the IO icon in your taskbar at the bottom right of your screen.

b) Select [Agilent Connection Expert] and wait one minute for application to start.

c) Close any welcome screens
d) Expand COM1 port to check instrument attached. Green check marks (as shown below) indicate proper communication.

If the wrong instrument is displayed or there are red x-marks indicating an error, complete any of the following tests:
(1) Check RS232 Cabling from PC to Oscilloscope.
(2) Power cycle the oscilloscope and wait until it is fully powered up and has completed self-tests, then
(3) Select Refresh All to check again.
Complete Only If Needed:
(4) Select any instrument shown being attached to COM1 so that it is highlighted
(2) Select Delete to delete instrument
(3) Select COM1 so that it is highlighted
(4) Check RS232 settings
Baud rate = 19200 for all oscilloscope models.
Flow Control and all other RS232 settings should display as shown above.
(5) Select Add Instrument
(6) Select Auto-identify.
If errors, check cabling and oscilloscope RS232 settings in the sections above.
1. IntuiLink Data Capture Setup (for model 54603B and 54645D)
a) To run IntuiLink see the start menu example below.

b) If the Welcome Box opens: Select √ check mark field "Do not show this dialog again" and close the box.

c) Select Get Data icon to begin capture.

d) Oscilloscope will display Remote operation in progress. Please wait.
e) Done
If any errors please proceed below to check setup.
a) Try power cycling the scope and restart IntuiLink software. That often works.
b) New users to a computer will have to run the setup once.
To Setup IntuiLink Data Capture Software
a) From the Instrument menu select 54600-Series for models 54603B and 54645D (or 54620/40-Series for model 54621A)

b) Select Get Waveform Data tab
IntuiLink is capable of downloading both the oscilloscope Screen Image and the Waveform Data (useful for spreadsheets and data analysis).
c) Uncheck field Get waveform data to download only the Screen Image.

d) Select the Set I/O tab then Find Instruments button

e) Select Identify Instrument(s) button

f) Set all RS232 settings as show below
Baud Rate = 19200 for all oscilloscope models.
Note Parity, Size, and HandShake settings that must be set appropriately!

g) The instrument found should display as shown below.
h) Select the Connect button

i) Instrument should be displayed as Connected. Select Close button.

j) Select the OK button

k) Oscilloscope will act frozen for a minute as the download of the screen image occurs. There is no Progress Bar to indicate it working..
l) When completed screen will be displayed within IntuiLink.

m) Done
If any errors please proceed below.
a) Try power cycling the scope and software. That sometime works.
2. Check Oscilloscope RS232 Settings for Model 54603B and 54645D
The oscilloscope RS232 settings must match both the IO Connection Expert and IntuiLink Data Capture settings.
a) Select oscilloscope Utility button then select I/O Menu.
b) Set the correct Baud Rate and DTR setting for the connected oscilloscope.
Baud rate = 19200 for all oscilloscope models.
Handshaking = DTR for all oscilloscopes.

3. Check Agilent IO Control setup
a) Click on the IO icon in your taskbar at the bottom right of your screen.

c) Close any welcome screens
d) Expand COM1 port to check instrument attached. Green check marks (as shown below) indicate proper communication.

If the wrong instrument is displayed or there are red x-marks indicating an error, complete any of the following tests:
(1) Check RS232 Cabling from PC to Oscilloscope.
(2) Power cycle the oscilloscope and wait until it is fully powered up and has completed self-tests, then
(3) Select Refresh All to check again.
Comlete Only If Needed:
(4) Select any instrument shown being attached to COM1 so that it is highlighed
(2) Select Delete to delete instrument
(3) Select COM1 so that it is highlighed
(4) Check Baud rate and RS232 settings
Baud rate = 19200 for all oscilloscope models.
Flow Control and all other RS232 settings should display as shown above.
(5) Select Add Instrument
(6) Select Auto-identify.
