Open Faculty Position
Tenure-Track Faculty Member
The Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering is presently searching for a new tenure-track
faculty member. Outstanding candidates in any
subfield of electrical and computer engineering will be
considered. However, the department is
especially interested in strengthening its efforts in the areas
of robotics, electromagnetics, and communications.
A recent Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a
closely related field is required.
Appointment will be at the assistant professor level.
The department offers an exclusively
undergraduate program. Two variations on the
curriculum give students the opportunity to either follow a
general course of study in electrical engineering or to place an
emphasis on topics related to computer engineering.
Both of these curricula lead to the same ABET-accredited
BSEE degree. A distinguishing feature of the
engineering and computer science programs at
Seattle
University is the
year-long Senior Design experience in which teams of students
work on design problems sponsored by companies from local
industry.
Seattle University, founded in 1891, continues a
more than four hundred and fifty year tradition of Jesuit
Catholic higher education. The University’s
Jesuit Catholic ideals underscore its commitment to the

approximately 7,200 undergraduate and graduate students in eight
colleges and schools. Students enjoy a
university ethos characterized by small classes, individualized
faculty attention, a strong sense of community, a commitment to
diversity, and an outstanding faculty.
Engineering studies have been offered at Seattle University
for over 50 years. In addition to Electrical
and Computer Engineering, the College of Science
and Engineering includes Mechanical Engineering, Civil and
Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, and departments in
the natural sciences and mathematics. The
college’s one graduate program is in Software Engineering.
Seattle
University places
particular emphasis on quality teaching. A
successful faculty member is also expected to establish a
consistent record of scholarly activity and to contribute to the
department, college, and university through participation on
committees and other governance activities.
