Guidelines for CPSC 595 and SEGR 595 – Internship

The following guidelines describe an expected correspondence between credits received for an internship and hours worked by a student:

  • If doing 1 credit internship, at least 100 hours and no more than 150 hours total, and maintain FT status unless vacation quarter.
  • If doing 2 credit internship, at least 150 hours and no more than 200 hours total, and maintain FT status unless vacation quarter.
  • If doing 3 credit internship, at least 200 hours and no more than 480 hours total, and maintain FT status unless vacation quarter.  If a regular term (i.e.  non-vacation), only a maximum of 200 hours is possible.
  • A student registering for an internship must have an academic advisor involved in the process who works with the student to identify the aspects of the internship experience that can be connected to the degree program, typically through a report that reflects on what the student learned through the work experience

Proof of registration for one of these Internship courses is also required for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) approval for a non-resident student.
