Sophie Blanchard received her B.S. in chemistry in 2001 from the French Engineering School of Chemistry in Rennes, France. Her doctoral studies were conducted under the supervision of Prof. Sylvain Cottaz at the University Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France. Sophie moved to the University of Wisconsin’s School of Pharmacy in 2005 to pursue post-doctoral studies with Prof. Jon Thorson, and is now a post-doctoral researcher in Prof. Michael Gelb’s lab at the University of Washington. Sophie’s broad teaching and research interests are at the interface of chemistry and biology; her specific focus is the biochemistry of enzymes.
