Coffee Quality Improvement
The
basic goal of this project
is to diminish the Coffee Crisis by building up Nicaraguan agricultural
and technical capabilities. Working in collaboration with
small-holder coffee producers, their NGO, ADDAC, and CRS/Nicaragua we
will develop and infuse new ideas
and services for coffee quality improvement and organic
certification. We will disseminate and train coffee producers to
use these resources which we hope will help them improve their coffee
quality and consistency, become
organic certified,
and sell their coffee for a sustainable price.
Laboratory Services
Coffee
producers need laboratory services to become certified and to
demonstrate the good quality of their product. A service
laboratory will be established at the University of Central America
Managua to offer affordable services to the coffee producing community.
