Children on the farm in Matagalpa

Please help hungry families by buying coffee from a socially responsible vendor who will return a fair share to the farmers. According to Lara Puglielli, director of Catholic Relief Services in Nicaragua, "the prices paid to the coffee farmers are often less than their costs to produce the coffee."

As a result, more than half a million Nicaraguan farm workers have sold their land, pulled their children out of school, and migrated to cities where they found only homelessness, hunger and family separation.

You can help the children on coffee farms when you buy coffee!

In order to buy coffee from this Coffee for Justice Project, visit the SU Bookstore or contact
Seattle University Bookstore Manager, Robert Spencer at bspencer@seattleu.edu

Do buy coffee from socially responsible sources.

Avoid buying coffee from a name-brand in the grocery store unless the product bears the Fair Trade seal. Do give directly to charities like Catholic Relief Services that offer relief to impoverished coffee farmers and their families.
